Today at noon Melinda Pariser-Schmidt, BSN, RNC-NIC, IBCLC from the University of Vermont Medical Center will present virtually on Specialty Sleeper Impacts on Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Admission for Neonatal Abstinence- Length of Stay and Eat, Sleep, Console Sleep Scores.
This was a nursing-led quality improvement project which sought to evaluate incorporation of novel, innovative technology into the non-pharmacologic treatment of infants with NAS in the UVMMC NICU. A pre/post retrospective analysis assessing average length of stay and “YES” scores for poor sleep for term infants admitted to UVMMC NICU for scheduled pharmacologic treatment of NAS. Quantitative analysis of LOS and YES scores as well as qualitative survey data of nursing perceptions of support and time-saved using specialty sleeper for eligible infants.
