Meet your colleagues Early May, 2020 (new date TBA) for an exciting and informative day at Vermont's State House. Legislative day is ANA-Vermont's favorite event of the year, where we get to meet and greet lawmakers and advocate for issues important to Vermont nurses. Unfortunately, COVID 19 makes it necessary make it a day where we will have legislators visit us in a format online where we can talk with each other, and see each other, but be at a proper social distance.
We will attend committee sessions, talk to numerous lawmakers, and possible participate in a press conference.
Tentative Schedule subject to change
Meet with legislators, starting at 8 AM to 10 AM.
We have invited Rep Mari Cordes RN, Senator Ginny Lyons, and House Speaker Mitzi Johnson to join us.
10 AM: House - Observe until 10:35 AM
10:45 AM: Lt Gov David Zuckerman
11:30 AM Lunch in cafeteria - meet with your legislator or colleagues
12 PM: Joint Press release at noon with Dan Quinlan (Vermont Climate Health Alliance), ANA-Vermont, and VtPHA supporting climate change and mentioning a Vermont Medical Society Resolution we agreed upon with carbon pollution as “the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century". We will discuss climate bills we support that are current at that time.
1 PM: Senate President Tim Ashe
2 PM: Group photo then to committees such as Senate Health and Welfare (room 17), and House Committee on Health Care (3rd floor)
